April 9, 2026

More Than 241,000 Michigan Workers Have Benefited From Program Since It Began

The Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity (LEO) recently announced applications have opened for Fiscal Year 2026 Cycle 2 of the Going PRO Talent Fund, a statewide program that helps Michigan businesses strengthen the economy by closing critical skill gaps and building a more competitive workforce. Michigan businesses have until April 24, 2026, to apply for approximately $6 million in training grant funding through their local Michigan Works! agency, with award announcements expected in June.

Since its launch in 2014, the Going PRO Talent Fund has awarded more than $323.4 million to support 8,966 businesses and 241,600 workers statewide. The program provides grants to help employers train, develop and retain both current and newly hired employees.

Grants give businesses the resources to deliver employer-driven training that leads to industry-recognized credentials while ensuring workers have access to high-wage, long-term career opportunities. By investing in skills development, the Going PRO Talent Fund helps businesses grow and strengthens Michigan’s workforce.

The Going PRO Talent Fund supports a variety of training models, including classroom instruction, on-the-job training for new hires and Registered Apprenticeships. These flexible, employer-driven options allow businesses of all sizes to address specific workforce needs while equipping workers with industry-recognized credentials.

Employers across a wide range of industries, including agribusiness, construction, education, energy, healthcare, hospitality and outdoor recreation, information technology, infrastructure, manufacturing, or mobility are encouraged to apply. Training is delivered in partnership with local Michigan Works! agencies, which help employers design customized solutions aligned with real-time workforce demands.

Applications will be accepted until 5 p.m. April 24, 2026. Employers interested in applying should contact their local Michigan Works! Service Center for guidance and support throughout the application process. Information can be found at Michigan.gov/MichiganWorks.
