In late January, Michigan Works! West Central welcomed employers from across the region for a series of Race to Talent events held in conjunction with its employer appreciation luncheons. The events highlighted the power of collaboration in strengthening regional workforce strategies.

Business leaders, workforce partners and state representatives were brought together to celebrate progress and expand awareness of USDOL Registered Apprenticeship programs. Employers engaged in discussions on the value of structured, employer-driven training programs and the long-term impact of USDOL Registered Apprenticeship programs on talent development.

The kickoff event, at Jamesport Brewing Company in Ludington, recognized USDOL Registered Apprenticeship partners for their commitment and leadership.

Momentum continued at Pere Marquette Bistro in Reed City, where employers explored how USDOL Registered Apprenticeships strengthen talent pipelines and support long-term business growth.

The final January event, at Smugglers at North Shore in Newaygo, carried the conversation forward, focusing on USDOL Registered Apprenticeship expansion and workforce innovation.

Employers were honored throughout the series for their leadership in implementing and sustaining USDOL Registered Apprenticeship programs that create meaningful career pathways while meeting critical industry needs. By championing this proven model, the region continues to build a stronger workforce and a sustainable pipeline of skilled talent for years to come.
