Frozen Vegetable Processor Has Operated In Oceana County Since 1969

Michigan Works! West Central is proud to recognize OPC Arbre Farms, LLC as its Employer of the Month for July 2025. Located in Walkerville, Arbre Farms is an industry leader in frozen vegetable processing with a long-standing reputation for high-quality products,  dedicated employees and strong community ties.

Founded in 1969, as Chase Farms and acquired by Oregon Potato Company (OPC) in 2021, Arbre Farms is now part of a larger, family-owned network of 17 facilities spanning Michigan, Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Canada. As the westernmost facility in the OPC group, Arbre Farms plays a vital role in providing fresh-frozen vegetable products that feed families across North America.

A Mission Rooted in Excellence

Michigan leads the nation in the production of specialty crops, making it the second-most agriculturally diverse state in the United States. This gives Michigan- based OPC Arbre Farms the ability to offer many types of vegetables.

“We are committed to bringing the best Michigan has to offer, from high quality products and great service to food safety through continual improvement and building lasting relationships with our grower partners and customers,” says the leadership at Arbre Farms.

A People-First Approach to Hiring and Development

Arbre Farms employs a team that is as diverse and dynamic as its product offerings. From skilled trades to leadership roles, the company looks for candidates who exhibit dedication, confidence, reliability, teamwork,  independence, leadership, communication skills, self-awareness, critical thinking and integrity — traits that align with the company’s collaborative and mission-driven environment. The top skills that a successful candidate at OPC Arbre Farms should possess are leadership, communication, adaptability, problem solving, and strong work ethic.

When reviewing resumes, hiring managers focus on relevant skills, work history and long-term career goals. In addition to production workers, the company employs electricians, boiler and refrigeration operators, and maintenance staff. In addition, Arbre Farms offers in-house apprenticeships, helping employees grow into advanced roles within the company.

What makes the company unique is: “The family-owned aspect of OPC Arbre Farms. We are a family of 17 facilities. Arbre Farms is the facility furthest West and our sister companies are in Oregon, Washington and Idaho, as well as Canada.”

Employees appreciate the growth opportunities available – many of their employees have been there since the Chase family owned it. The employees are approachable and welcoming, and the work environment is friendly and fun.

A Valued Community Partner

Michigan Works! West Central has helped OPC Arbre Farms gain the opportunities to help their employees grow, as well as consistently communicates with the company to help community members find employment through various hiring events. Michigan Works! West Central also has helped the company receive several Going PRO Talent Fund awards.
