Manufacturer receives reimbursement for various training

Congratulations to GM Wood Products in Newaygo for recently completing their Going PRO Talent Fund training plan for 57 employees! Training included leadership, machine tech, quality, Lean 6 Sigma, maintenance, forklift operator, moulder tech and more!

Our Executive Director Shelly Keene recently presented Hannah Schmidt and Jennifer Ebenstein from GM Wood Products with a $78,010 reimbursement check.

GM Wood Products previously was awarded Going PRO Talent Fund training dollars in FY17 to train 41 employees on various quality, lead assessment, and molding, CNC and maintenance trainings. They also received funds in FY18 to train eight employees on a new $2 million automated CNC machine.

Although the current Going PRO Talent Fund application period is closed, it is never too early to start thinking about your company’s training needs. Eligible businesses can apply for up to $1,500 per individual (existing or new-hire employees) for training on a new or expanded skill. That amount increases to up to $3,000 per individual for first-year USDOL registered apprentices.
