Employees To Receive On-The-Job Training & The Skills Necessary To Advance Their Careers

Reed City Group, a leading manufacturer in West Michigan, is growing its talent pipeline thanks to a strong partnership with Michigan Works! West Central. Through the Michigan Statewide Targeted Apprenticeship Inclusion & Readiness System (MI STAIRS EXT) initiative, Reed City Group received a $52,000 check presented by Michigan Works! West Central to support the development of its Registered Apprenticeship Programs (RAPs).

This funding allows Reed City Group to address critical talent shortages by growing skilled trades positions in their facility. Apprentices receive not only valuable on-the-job training but also direct financial support and a technology package that includes an iPad and protective case — tools that help them track progress and connect with training resources. A total of 13 employees at Reed City Group will receive training this year with the help of MiSTAIRS.

Reed City Group joins other regional partners like Magna Mirrors, Nestle Gerber, Yoplait, Great Lakes Castings and Haworth in investing in the next generation of skilled workers. With the support of Michigan Works! West Central, a minimum of 43 apprentices will be registered through the different employer partnerships.

This initiative reflects a shared commitment to building a strong, sustainable workforce for the future. As a result of this collaboration, Reed City Group is not only filling immediate workforce needs but also creating long-term career pathways for individuals in the community.
