Lundberg Completes LPN Apprenticeship Program, Looks To Start Pre-Licensure RN Program

Casey Lundberg's career at Oakview Medical Care Facility in Ludington is a shining example of dedication and growth, made possible through strategic apprenticeship programs. What began as a role as a unit secretary quickly evolved as Casey, driven by a profound passion for healthcare, sought to expand her impact.

Her journey truly accelerated when she decided to become a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), completing her classroom training at West Shore Community College. Achieving her CNA certification was a pivotal moment, as it not only fulfilled a personal goal but also met the prerequisite for Oakview's Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) USDOL Registered Apprenticeship Program.

Embracing this new opportunity, Casey seamlessly transitioned into the LPN apprenticeship. This intensive, year-long program allowed her to work full-time as an apprentice, gaining invaluable hands-on experience, all while continuing her essential related instruction hours at West Shore Community College.

Casey completed her on-the-job training and in-classroom instruction to receive her official apprenticeship certificate from the U.S. Department of Labor in July 2025. Michigan Works! West Central holds the apprenticeship standards under which Oakview created the course outline. Casey is the first apprentice to complete their training program under Michigan Works! West Central's standards.

Casey's commitment and progress was first recognized during a November 2024, National Apprenticeship Week event by her mentors, colleagues, and the supportive team at Michigan Works! West Central. Michigan Works! West Central has been a proud partner in her journey, collaborating with Oakview to expand these vital apprenticeship opportunities.

Now, with her LPN apprenticeship completed, Casey is already taking the next ambitious step: she's entering the pre-licensure Registered Nurse (RN) apprenticeship program. Casey's story is a powerful testament to how structured apprenticeship programs can cultivate skilled healthcare professionals, transforming initial roles into thriving, impactful careers within the medical field.

Congratulations Casey!
