UIA and Michigan Works! offices closed for Juneteenth

Jun 16, 2022

Service Centers will Reopen at 8 a.m. Tuesday, June 21

All Unemployment Insurance Agency (UIA) and Michigan Works Association offices will be closed Monday, June 20, in observance of Juneteenth. Juneteenth commemorates June 19, 1865, as the end of slavery in the United States. The holiday is recognized by both the federal and state governments.

All Michigan Works! West Central service centers will reopen at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, June 21. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Unemployed workers can still certify for benefits on Monday using the Michigan Web Account Manager (MiWAM). Certification by phone will not be available since state offices will be closed. There may be a slight delay before benefits are deposited into bank accounts or loaded onto debit cards due to the holiday.

If claimants need assistance or have a question, they can call Customer Service at 1-866-500-0017 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. when UIA offices are open. Claimants also are encouraged to schedule a phone, in-person or virtual appointment at Michigan.gov/UIA.

Unemployed workers claiming benefits in Michigan must report once every two weeks that they are unemployed and meet the eligibility requirements for benefits. Certification can be completed online through MiWAM or by phone through the Michigan Automated Response Voice Interactive Network (MARVIN) toll-free at 1-866-638-3993. MiWAM is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Claimants may login or sign up for an online account at Michigan.gov/UIA.
