Regional Health Care Provider Uses Funds To Train 10 Employees

Congratulations to Family Health Care, which recently completed its FY22 Going PRO Talent Fund training plan. Michigan Works! West Central Executive Director Shelly Keene presented Family Health Care with a reimbursement check in the amount of $15,000 on March 6, 2023.

This was the organization's first Going PRO Talent Fund award. Funds were used on-the-job training for dental assistant aides (3), patient care technicians (4) and pharmacy technicians (3).

The funding through the Going PRO Talent Fund is provided by the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Growth and administered by the local Michigan Works! office. The money assists with training, developing and retaining newly hired and current employees. Family Health Care is federally qualified health center with clinics in Lake, Newaygo, Mecosta, Missaukee, and Wexford counties.

Although the 2022 (FY23) Going PRO Talent Fund application has come and gone, don't worry! There will be a second application period this coming spring! Stay connect to Michigan Works! West Central's website and social media channels for the most up-to-date information.

Eligible businesses can apply for up to $2,000 per individual (existing or new-hire employees) for training on a new or expanded skill. That amount increases to up to $3,500 per individual for USDOL registered apprentices.
