The Going PRO Talent Fund spring application period opens April 6! Michigan businesses can apply to receive a portion of available funding to help them train, develop and retain current and newly hired employees. The Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity (LEO) recently announced the opening for the Cycle 2 grant round.

Going PRO Talent Fund grants are awarded to employers through the Michigan Works! Association network (MWAs), including Michigan Works! West Central. Participating employers play an integral role in defining their key training needs and working with their local MWAs and other partners to develop an appropriate training plan.

Training must fill a demonstrated talent need experienced by the employer and lead to a transferable, industry-recognized credential. Eligible training programs funded by the Going PRO Talent Fund include classroom training, on-the-job training for new employees and apprenticeships. Trainings awarded funding must take place between July 1, 2026, and June 30, 2027.

Applications close 5 p.m. Friday, April 24. Businesses interested in learning more or applying for funding should contact Michigan Works! West Central's Business Engagement team. More information about the Going PRO Talent Fund and contact information for your Business Engagement representative may be found here.
