YAC Is A Dynamic Group Of Emerging Young-Adult Leaders From Across Michigan

Youth Solutions recently announced Carson Haskin as the newly appointed President of the Youth Advisory Council (YAC), and Ayanna Mendieta as President-Elect. The YAC is a dynamic group of emerging leaders, consisting of current Jobs for Michigan’s Graduates (JMG) youth and alumni. Driven by their own transformative experiences in JMG, these passionate individuals serve as advocates and are dedicated to advancing and enhancing the initiatives of JMG programming statewide.

Haskin is a current JMG student at Northwest Education Services CTC, a program of Networks Northwest. Since joining the YAC, Haskin has shown exceptional leadership and dedication. His commitment was evident when he represented JMG at Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG) National Student Leadership Academy in Washington, D.C. last December. Reflecting on his new role, Haskin shared:  “I am filled with excitement as this opportunity allows me to help empower and inspire other JMG youth.”

Mendieta , a JMG Alumna from Michigan Works! West Central, has been a strong advocate for youth, leveraging her experiences to support the YAC’s mission. She noted: “Being a part of JMG allowed me to grow professionally. JMG has truly impacted my life by providing resources that have shaped my future.” Mendieta consistently brings valuable insights and experience to the YAC, making her an influential voice for JMG youth.

Over the past year, both Haskin and Mendieta have demonstrated outstanding leadership. Youth Solutions is confident their vision and commitment will continue to elevate the work of the YAC. Together, they will bring new energy to the council, and we look forward to the impact their leadership will have in the year ahead!
