What is Reentry United?

Reentry United is more than a conference. It’s a movement built on collaboration, innovation and shared commitment.

Originally launched in 2023, the annual Reentry United conference brings together professionals, advocates and individuals with lived experience to highlight successful partnerships, programs, and services that support returning citizens. It’s a space where ideas are exchanged, barriers are addressed, and solutions are built.

The event features:

• Real-world success stories
• Conversations on topics like workforce pathways, mentoring, trauma-informed care, and reentry support services

Why This Work Matters

Reentry United reflects a broader commitment to strengthening our communities by supporting individuals returning from incarceration. In Michigan, collaborative reentry efforts have contributed to a significant decline in recidivism—from about 50 percent in 2010 down to 21 percent in 2025.

These outcomes demonstrate what’s possible when agencies, employers and community partners work together. The mission is simple but powerful: Break the cycle of incarceration and create pathways to long-term success.
