Michigan Works! West Central Hosts Six Hiring Parties This Summer

Michigan Works! West Central hosted six large-scale job fairs, called Hiring Parties, this summer -- one at each of our six service centers.

A total of 174 employers participated at these events, which attracted 390 job seekers! At least 182 individuals were offered work as a result of attending these events, producing a 47-percent job-placement rate!

"The participation at our Hiring Parties was beyond our expectations," said Michigan Works! West Central Executive Director Shelly Keene. “These Hiring Parties were a great way to bring job seekers and employers together in a more relaxed, casual setting, all while sharing some lunch. We cooked hot dogs, and many employers provided side dishes, snacks, drinks and more. Each event was a little bit different, but each one exceeded expectations!"

Michigan Works! West Central plans to host additional Hiring Parties each year.
