In July, Michigan Works! West Central hosted two Regional Talent Pipeline Lunch & Learn sessions in Big Rapids and Ludington, bringing together nearly 20 local employers for meaningful discussions focused on workforce development and talent attraction. 

These sessions provided employers with an opportunity to share their experiences, challenges and successes related to hiring, onboarding, training and retaining employees. The events were designed to ensure employers' voices remain at the center of workforce development efforts and future talent pipeline strategies.

A key component of the sessions was a collaborative SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats) analysis of the region's workforce landscape. Employers offered valuable perspectives on strengths that make the region an attractive place to do business, while also identifying areas where workforce shortages, skill gaps and onboarding challenges continue to impact growth. The exercise generated insightful conversations around current and future employment needs, emerging skill requirements and opportunities to better align training and workforce initiatives with employer demand. 

The feedback gathered will help guide Michigan Works! West Central's efforts to develop targeted workforce solutions and strengthen the talent pipeline for businesses throughout the region.
